Letter from the Founder of Informaniak Foundation
Dear all
……a multinational corporation (Swiss non-profit foundation )…has taken over the Infomaniak Foundation. It now holds the majority of the voting rights in the form of special shares that can never be sold.
The Infomaniak Foundation has two missions:
- First, to support non-profit projects in the areas of digital sovereignty and education, environment and biodiversity, ethical digitization, and the energy transition.
- Second, as the reference shareholder, to safeguard the independence and long-term continuity of Infomaniak’s DNA.
What this means for you You chose Infomaniak for clear reasons: sovereignty, sustainability, respect for your privacy, and local roots.
These values no longer depend on me personally. They are now enshrined in a charter that no one can revoke.
I remain fully involved in the strategic direction alongside the management team that has been leading Infomaniak for years. What is changing is the structural protection behind it.
No investor — neither now nor in the future — will be able to alter Infomaniak’s DNA, mission, or independence. This protection also allows us to safely integrate the resources needed for our continued growth.
To enable you to verify our commitments every year, Infomaniak will publish a public impact report annually.
Why now? More and more people entrust us with their data, websites, emails, and business-critical applications. This trust, built over thirty years, represents an enormous volume of information. In the age of artificial intelligence, it has acquired a strategic value greater than ever before.
At a time when the majority of European data is held by just a few American companies. At a time when we saw judges at the International Criminal Court suddenly lose access to their digital services overnight during legal proceedings. At a time when AI is consuming ever more energy and concentrating ever more power. Europe’s technological independence has never been more essential than it is today.
A trust of this magnitude could no longer rest solely on my personal will. It needed structural protection.
This is what I owe you.
You will find all the details about how the foundation works, who is part of it, and how Infomaniak will continue here:
The full story behind this project
You chose Infomaniak years ago — sometimes even decades ago — for reasons that are more relevant today than ever. This foundation is my way of protecting your choice for the long term.
It is also my way of saying thank you today. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for choosing a sovereign cloud that is deeply rooted in the local economy and respects your privacy.
With sincere gratitude,
Boris Siegenthaler Founder and Strategic Leader of Infomaniak
