DESCRIPTION:TREMONA-CASTELLO ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK AND MUSEUM\nThursday\, 4 October: 10.30 onwards \nThe small village of Tremona has become known for its archaeological excavations which have been carried out since 2000. Teams of archaeologists and volunteers have uncovered well-preserved remains of a hilltop settlement which\, with its remarkable finds\, provides unique insights into the past of the region. Most of all\, archaeology shows what life was like in a medieval village. Excavations have revealed how the villagers lived and died\, how their houses were built and what conditions were\nlike for both peasants and the Lord of the castle. We will meet in the carpark at Tremona (Via al Castello) at 10.30. The archaeological park is reachable within 10 minutes by foot\, following the trail leaving from Tremona. Good shoes are advisable. We will be met by one of the English-speaking archaeologists who began the research; he will explain the\nsite and lead our tour.\nThe archaeological park offers a detailed reconstruction of the daily life of a rural village during medieval times\, through a route illustrated by panels in two languages (Italian and French). We will have translators at hand for anyone who requires this. We will see the strategic role the settlement had during the past\, and discover the daily life led by the inhabitants\, through interesting characters and themes\, such as the blacksmith and his workshop\, the activities of village women\, the houses\, crops and food.\n*If the weather is bad\, I will call you in the morning and we will reschedule our visit!\nPlease contact Sue to reserve your place

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to be able to combine a trip to Ponte Capriasca to see this amazing 16th Century fresco\, with the monthly Ladies’ Lunch organised by Lilo. \nThe fresco in this little parish church is an incredible reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper\,’ which can be seen in Milan at Santa Maria delle Grazie.
