DESCRIPTION:The Como club has organised an intriguing cultural trip and welcomes IWCL members to take part on 7 November. We will visit the ancient library of the Collegio Gallio\, then move on to the Art Exhibit “Miniartextil 2019”\, then reach Cernobbio for a lunch in the Restaurant San Giovanni to end the afternoon\nwith a visit to the nearby Liberty style Villa Bernasconi. Details of the program are as follows: \n\n1. Meeting time 10.00 – At the entrance to Collegio Gallio\, Via Tolomeo Gallio 1\, Como (centre).\nFree visit of the library containing 40.000 volumes of books and maps. Suggested parking: Autosilo del Lago\, Via Masia\n2. Meeting time: 11.30 – Visit to exhibit Miniartextil “POP UP”\, Spazio Ratti\, ex Chiesa di S. Francesco\, Largo Spallini\, Como (Law Court area). Suggested parking: Autosilo Tribunale. Entrance and guided tour in English 7\,00 € per person\n3. Meeting time: 13.00 – Drive to Cernobbio for lunch at Ristorante San Giovanni\, Via V Giornate N. 31\, Cernobbio. Set menu 15\,00 €. Suggested free parking: Via Regina or behind Cernobbio’s Town Hall \nWe will meet at 14.30 – visit Villa Bernasconi nearby (Cernobbio)\, a jewel of Liberty architecture built by G. Sommaruga. Entrance fee between 5\,00 (over 65) € or 8\,00 €.\nAll four activities are optional and you can book them independently of each other. Please be aware that the programme may still undergo slight changes. If interested\, please book your place by email no later than Monday\, 4 November\, clearly stating which activities you would like to take part in. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to offer our members a visit to the prestigious Swiss National Supercomputer Centre\,\nhere in Lugano. Their English-speaking Communications Officer\, Angela Schneebeli\, has most generously\nand exceptionally offered to open the Centre’s doors to members of our Club\, for an exclusive guided tour.\nFounded in 1991\, CSCS\, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre\, develops and provides the key\nsupercomputing capabilities required to solve important problems in science and/or society. The centre\nenables world-class research with a scientific user lab that is available to domestic and international\nresearchers through a transparent\, peer-reviewed allocation process. CSCS’s resources are open to\nacademia\, and are available in addition to users from industry and the business sector. The centre is\noperated by ETH Zurich and is located in Lugano with additional offices in Zurich.\nWe will meet outside CSCS at 14.20. The visit will not cost anything for our members\, but please sign-up\nbefore Friday\, 8 November\, since this is a working environment and places on the tour are limited.
