2022 May Monthly meeting : THE DIVINE COMEDY by Andreas Pera

Andrea Pera was born in Perugia, Italy, and has dual Italian and Swiss citizenship. He lives in Lugano and has worked as a teacher of humanistic subjects (Italian, Philosophy, History) in various secondary schools and universities in Italy, Germany and Switzerland. His teaching
method is based on the activation of motivation on the part of students, so that studying is a pleasure for the development of knowledge and skills without boring punishment. To this end, he has always used audio-visual means (films, pictures, etc.) in addition to the traditional teaching tools (books, etc.)

“The Divine Comedy begins in a shadowed forest on Good Friday in the year 1300. It proceeds on a journey that, in its intense recreation of the depths and the heights of human experience, has become the key with which Western civilization has sought to unlock the mystery of its own identity.” (Allen Mandelbaum)
The brief presentation of the life and the main work of Dante (father of the Italian language), the Divine Comedy, will be based on the vision of images that will be explained and commented, in order to involve those who participate in the meeting, and transmit
the human, religious and cultural values that the work of Dante still presents us.
